Comportamentul creştinilor
1 Aminteşte-le să fie supuşi conducătorilor şi autorităţilor, să fie ascultători, să fie gata pentru orice faptă bună, 2 să nu defăimeze pe nimeni, să fie paşnici, arătând deplină blândeţe faţă de toţi oamenii. 3 Fiindcă şi noi eram în trecut fără minte, neascultători, amăgiţi, slujind poftelor şi plăcerilor de multe feluri, trăind în răutate şi invidie, duşmăniţi fiind de oameni şi duşmănindu-ne unii pe alţii.
4 Dar când s-a arătat bunătatea şi iubirea de oameni a lui Dumnezeu, Mântuitorul nostru, 5 El ne-a mântuit, nu datorită faptelor de dreptate pe care le-am săvârşit, ci datorită milei Lui. El ne-a mântuit prin spălarea naşterii din nou şi a reînnoirii făcute de Duhul Sfânt , 6 pe care l-a revărsat din belşug asupra noastră prin Iisus Hristos, Mântuitorul nostru, 7 pentru ca noi să fim făcuţi drepţi prin harul Său şi să devenim moştenitori, după cum spune nădejdea vieţii veşnice.
8 Cuvântul acesta este vrednic de crezare; şi vreau ca să spui răspicat aceste lucruri, pentru ca cei care cred în Dumnezeu să fie primii la fapte bune. Acestea sunt bune şi folositoare pentru oameni. 9 Fereşte-te de întrebările prosteşti, de genealogii, de certuri şi de dispute privind Legea, pentru că sunt nefolositoare şi zadarnice. 10 Cu omul eretic, după întâia şi a doua mustrare, să nu mai ai nimic de-a face, 11 ştiind că unul ca acesta s-a abătut şi păcătuieşte, fiind condamnat de propriile lui fapte.

12 Când îi voi trimite la tine pe Artemas sau pe Tihic, străduieşte-te să vii la mine, la Nicopole, căci acolo m-am hotărât să-mi petrec iarna. 13 Pe Zenas, învăţătorul Legii, şi pe Apolo trimite-i înainte şi ai grijă să nu le lipsească nimic. 14 Să înveţe şi ai noştri să fie primii la fapte bune, oricând este nevoie, şi să nu stea neroditori.
Încheiere
15 Te îmbrăţişează cei care sunt împreună cu mine. Îmbrăţişează-i pe cei ce ne iubesc în credinţă. Harul să fie cu voi toţi!
1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, 2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. 3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. 9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. 10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
12 When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter. 13 Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them. 14 And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. 15 All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
