1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. 4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. 5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. 9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. 10 We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. 11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. 12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. 13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. 14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. 15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. 16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. 17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
18 Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly. 19 But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. 20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 22 And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words. 23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you. 24 Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you. 25 Grace be with you all. Amen.
Îndemnuri la statornicie şi sfinţenie
1 Rămâneţi în dragostea frăţească! 2 Nu uitaţi primirea de oaspeţi, căci astfel, unii, fără să ştie, au găzduit îngeri. 3 Aduceţi-vă aminte de cei ce sunt în lanţuri ca şi cum aţi fi puşi în lanţuri împreună cu ei, şi de cei care trec prin chinuri, căci şi voi trăiţi în trup! 4 Căsătoria să fie trăită cu cinste, iar patul nespurcat, căci pe desfrânaţi şi pe adulteri îi va judeca Dumnezeu. 5 Trăiţi-vă viaţa fără iubire de bani şi fiţi mulţumiţi cu ce aveţi, fiindcă El a zis: Nicidecum nu am să te las şi cu nici un chip nu te voi părăsi! 6 Aşa că putem zice şi noi cu îndrăzneală:
Domnul este ajutorul meu,
nu îmi va fi teamă:
ce îmi poate face omul?
7 Aduceţi-vă aminte de mai marii voştri, de cei care v-au spus cuvântul lui Dumnezeu, şi priviţi cum şi-au sfârşit viaţa şi urmaţi-le credinţa! 8 Iisus Hristos este acelaşi, ieri şi azi şi în veci! 9 Nu vă lăsaţi rătăciţi de feluritele învăţături străine! Este bine ca inima să fie întărită prin har, nu prin mâncăruri care n-au fost de folos celor ce le-au ţinut. 10 Noi avem un altar de la care nu au dreptul să mănânce slujitorii cortului. 11 Căci trupurile animalelor, al căror sânge îl aduc jertfă pentru păcate preoţii în cortul sfânt, sunt arse în afara taberei. 12 De aceea şi Iisus, ca să sfinţească poporul cu sângele Său, a pătimit dincolo de poarta cetăţii. 13 Să ieşim, astfel, la El, afară din tabără, luând asupra noastră ocara Lui. 14 Căci noi nu avem aici cetate statornică, ci o căutăm pe cea viitoare. 15 Prin El, aşadar, să aducem întotdeauna jertfă de laudă, adică rodul buzelor care mărturisesc Numele Lui. 16 Nu vă lăsaţi de înfăptuirea binelui şi de întrajutorare, căci astfel de jertfe îi plac lui Dumnezeu.
17 Ascultaţi de mai marii voştri şi fiţi supuşi faţă de ei, căci ei veghează asupra sufletelor voastre şi vor da socoteală. Şi faceţi în aşa fel ca ei să poată veghea cu bucurie, nu cu suspine – căci aceasta nu v-ar folosi la nimic. 18 Rugaţi-vă pentru noi, fiindcă suntem încredinţaţi că avem o conştiinţă bună şi dorim ca în toate lucrurile să ne purtăm aşa cum se cuvine. 19 Încă mai mult, vă rog să faceţi aşa ca să vă fiu înapoiat mai repede.

20 Iar Dumnezeul păcii, cel care L-a înviat din morţi pe Păstorul cel mare al oilor, pe Domnul nostru Iisus, prin sângele legământului veşnic, 21 să vă desăvârşească în tot ce este bun, aşa încât să faceţi voia Lui, a Celui ce lucrează în noi ce-I este plăcut, prin Iisus Hristos, căruia i se cuvine slava în vecii vecilor, amin.
22 Vă rog, fraţilor, să primiţi bine cuvântul acesta, deşi v-am scris doar pe scurt. 23 Să ştiţi că fratele nostru Timotei a fost eliberat. Am să vă văd împreună cu el, dacă vine mai repede.
24 Salutaţi-i pe toţi mai-marii voştri şi pe toţi sfinţii! Vă salută toţi cei din Italia. 25 Harul să fie cu voi toţi!
