1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, 2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them , and bring them unto me. 3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. 4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. 6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, 7 And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. 8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. 9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. 10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? 11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
12 ¶ And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, 13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. 14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. 15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased, 16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
17 ¶ And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there. 18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. 19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. 20 And when the disciples saw it , they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! 21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
23 ¶ And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? 24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? 26 But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. 27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
28 ¶ But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. 29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. 30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go , sir: and went not. 31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it , repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
33 ¶ Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: 34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. 35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. 36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. 37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. 38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. 39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him . 40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? 41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. 42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? 43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. 44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. 45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. 46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
Intrarea lui Iisus în Ierusalim
1 Când s-au apropiat de Ierusalim şi-au ajuns la Betfaghe, înspre muntele Măslinilor, Iisus a trimis doi ucenici 2 şi le-a zis: „Duceţi-vă în satul dinaintea voastră şi în el veţi găsi îndată o măgăriţă legată şi un măgăruş împreună cu ea. Dezlegaţi-i şi aduceţi-i la Mine. 3 Dacă vă va zice cineva ceva, să spuneţi că Domnul are nevoie de ei. Şi îndată îi va trimite.” 4 Dar toate aceste lucruri s-au întâmplat ca să se împlinească ce fusese vestit prin profetul care zice:
5 Spuneţi fiicei Sionului:
Iată, regele tău vine la tine,
blând şi călare pe un asin,
pe un măgăruş, mânzul unei măgăriţe.
6 Ucenicii s-au dus şi au făcut cum le poruncise Iisus. 7 Au adus măgăriţa şi măgăruşul, şi-au pus hainele peste ei şi El s-a aşezat deasupra. 8 Cei mai mulţi din popor îşi aşterneau hainele pe drum, alţii tăiau ramuri din copaci şi le presărau pe drum. 9 Mulţimile care mergeau înaintea lui Iisus şi cele ce veneau în urmă strigau:
Osana Fiul lui David!
Binecuvântat este Cel ce vine în Numele Domnului!
Osana în cele de sus!
10 Când a intrat în Ierusalim, toată cetatea s-a pus în mişcare şi toţi ziceau: „Cine este acesta?” 11 „Este Iisus, Profetul, din Nazaretul Galileii” răspundeau mulţimile. 12 Iisus a intrat în Templu. I-a dat afară pe toţi cei ce vindeau şi cumpărau în Templu, a răsturnat mesele schimbătorilor de bani şi scaunele celor ce vindeau porumbei 13 şi le-a zis: „Este scris: Casa Mea se va numi casă de rugăciune. Dar voi aţi făcut din ea o peşteră de tâlhari.”
14 Au venit la El în Templu nişte orbi şi şchiopi şi El i-a vindecat. 15 Dar marii preoţi şi cărturarii, când au văzut minunile pe care le făcea, şi pe copii strigând în Templu şi zicând: „Osana, Fiul lui David!” s-au umplut de mânie. 16 Şi I-au zis: „Îi auzi ce zic?” „Da” le-a răspuns Iisus. „Oare n-aţi citit niciodată: Tu ai scos laude din gura pruncilor şi din gura celor ce sug? ” 17 Şi, lăsându-i, a ieşit afară din cetate, s-a îndreptat spre Betania şi a rămas acolo.
Smochinul neroditor
18 Dimineaţa, pe când se întorcea în cetate, I s-a făcut foame. 19 A văzut un smochin lângă drum şi s-a apropiat de el, dar n-a găsit decât frunze şi a zis: „De-acum încolo în veac să nu mai dai rod!” Şi îndată smochinul s-a uscat. 20 Ucenicii, când au văzut lucrul acesta s-au mirat şi au zis: „Cum de s-a uscat smochinul acesta într-o clipă?” 21 Iisus le-a răspuns: „Adevărat vă spun că, dacă aţi avea credinţă şi nu v-aţi îndoi, veţi face nu numai ce i s-a făcut smochinului, ci dacă aţi zice muntelui acestuia: Ridică-te de aici şi aruncă-te în mare, aşa se va întâmpla. 22 Tot ce veţi cere cu credinţă, prin rugăciune, veţi primi.”
Autoritatea lui Iisus
23 Iisus s-a dus în Templu; şi, pe când învăţa poporul, au venit la El marii preoţi şi bătrânii poporului şi I-au spus: „Cu ce autoritate faci Tu lucrurile acestea şi cine Ţi-a dat dreptul acesta?” 24 Iisus le-a răspuns: „Vă voi pune şi Eu o întrebare şi dacă-Mi veţi răspunde la ea, vă voi spune şi Eu cu ce drept fac aceste lucruri. 25 Botezul lui Ioan de unde venea, din cer sau de la oameni?” Dar ei au început să discute între ei şi ziceau: „Dacă vom răspunde: Din cer! ne va spune, Atunci de ce nu l-aţi crezut? 26 Iar dacă vom răspunde: De la oameni! ne temem de popor, pentru că toţi îl consideră pe Ioan profet.” 27 Atunci I-au răspuns lui Iisus: „Nu ştim!” Şi El, la rândul Lui, le-a zis: „Nici Eu nu vă voi spune cu ce putere fac aceste lucruri.
Parabola celor doi fii
28 Ce credeţi? Un om avea doi fii şi s-a dus la primul şi i-a zis: Fiule, du-te astăzi şi lucrează în via mea! 29 Nu vreau! i-a răspuns el. Pe urmă, i-a părut rău şi s-a dus. 30 A mers şi la celălalt şi i-a spus tot aşa. Şi fiul acesta a răspuns: Mă duc, doamne! Dar nu s-a dus. 31 Care dintre cei doi a făcut voia tatălui său?” „Primul”, au răspuns ei. Şi Iisus le-a zis: „Adevărat vă spun că vameşii şi desfrânatele merg înaintea voastră în Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu. 32 Fiindcă Ioan a venit la voi umblând pe calea dreptăţii şi nu l-aţi crezut, dar vameşii şi desfrânatele l-au crezut. Şi, cu toate că aţi văzut lucrul acesta, nu v-aţi căit nici măcar mai târziu şi nu l-aţi crezut.
Parabola viticultorilor
33 Ascultaţi încă o parabolă. Era odată un om gospodar care a sădit o vie. A împrejmuit-o cu un gard, a săpat un teasc în ea şi a zidit un turn. Apoi a dat-o unor viticultori şi a plecat în altă ţară. 34 Când a venit vremea recoltei, i-a trimis pe slujitorii săi la viticultori, ca să ia partea lui din recoltă. 35 Viticultorii au pus mâna pe slujitorii lui, pe unul l-au bătut, pe altul l-au omorât, iar pe altul l-au ucis cu pietre. 36 A mai trimis alţi slujitori, mai mulţi decât prima dată, iar viticultorii i-au primit la fel. 37 La sfârşit, l-a trimis la ei pe fiul său, zicând: Pe fiul meu îl vor primi cu cinste! 38 Dar viticultorii, când l-au văzut, au zis între ei: Iată-l pe moştenitor! Haideţi să-l omorâm şi să punem stăpânire pe moştenirea lui. 39 Şi au pus mâna pe el, l-au scos afară din vie şi l-au omorât. 40 Acum, când va veni stăpânul viei, ce le va face el viticultorilor?” 41 Ei I-au răspuns: „Pe nemernicii aceia îi va nimici fără milă şi via o va da altor viticultori care-i vor da recolta la vremea cuvenită.” 42 Iisus le-a zis: „N-aţi citit niciodată în Scripturi că:
Piatra pe care au lepădat-o zidarii
a ajuns să fie pusă în capul unghiului?
Domnul a făcut acest lucru
şi este minunat în ochii noştri.
43 De aceea vă spun că Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu vă va fi luată şi va fi dată unui popor care va aduce roadele cuvenite. 44 Cine va cădea peste piatra aceasta va fi zdrobit de ea, iar pe acela peste care va cădea ea îl va spulbera.” 45 După ce au auzit parabolele lui, preoţii cei mai de seamă şi fariseii au înţeles că Iisus vorbeşte despre ei 46 şi căutau să-L prindă, dar se temeau de mulţimi pentru că ele Îl credeau profet.
