1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him , that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they , but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit , the redemption of our body. 24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it . 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Viaţa nouă în Duhul Sfânt
1 Prin urmare, acum nu mai este nici o condamnare pentru cei care sunt în Hristos Iisus, 2 fiindcă legea Duhului vieţii în Hristos Iisus te-a eliberat de legea păcatului şi a morţii. 3 Căci Dumnezeu a săvârşit ceea ce îi era cu neputinţă Legii, care era slabă din cauza trupului: El L-a trimis pe propriul Său Fiu într-un trup asemenea trupului păcătos, ca să condamne păcatul în trup – în cele privitoare la păcat, 4 aşa încât dreptatea Legii să fie împlinită în noi, cei care nu trăim după trup, ci după Duh. 5 Pentru că cei care trăiesc potrivit trupului cugetă la cele ale trupului, iar cei care trăiesc potrivit Duhului cugetă la cele ale Duhului. 6 Fiindcă alipirea gândului de cele trupeşti înseamnă moarte, însă alipirea gândului de cele ale Duhului înseamnă viaţă şi pace. 7 Prin urmare, alipirea gândului de cele trupeşti înseamnă duşmănie faţă de Dumnezeu, fiindcă nu se supune Legii lui Dumnezeu, pentru că nici nu poate, 8 iar cei care trăiesc sub stăpânirea trupului nu pot să-I placă lui Dumnezeu. 9 Voi însă nu sunteţi sub stăpânirea trupului, ci a Duhului, dacă Duhul lui Dumnezeu locuieşte într-adevăr în voi. Iar dacă cineva nu are Duhul lui Hristos, acela nu este al Lui. 10 Iar dacă Hristos este în voi, trupul este mort faţă de păcat, dar duhul este viaţă datorită dreptăţii. 11 Iar dacă Duhul celui care L-a înviat pe Iisus din morţi locuieşte în voi, Cel care L-a înviat pe Hristos din morţi va învia şi trupurile voastre muritoare prin Duhul Său care locuieşte în voi.
12 Prin urmare, fraţilor, nu suntem datori trupului ca să trăim potrivit trupului, 13 pentru că dacă trăiţi potrivit trupului veţi muri. Dar dacă prin duhul ucideţi faptele trupului, veţi fi vii. 14 Fiindcă toţi cei sunt conduşi de Duhul lui Dumnezeu sunt fii ai lui Dumnezeu. 15 Căci nu aţi primit duhul robiei ca să vă temeţi iarăşi, ci aţi primit Duhul înfierii prin care strigăm: „Avva, Tată!” 16 Duhul Însuşi dă mărturie împreună cu duhul nostru că suntem copii ai lui Dumnezeu. 17 Iar dacă suntem copii, atunci suntem şi moştenitori: moştenitori ai lui Dumnezeu şi moştenitori împreună cu Hristos, dacă pătimim într-adevăr împreună cu El, ca să şi fim slăviţi împreună cu El.
Slava viitoare
18 Socotesc că suferinţele de acum nu sunt vrednice să se măsoare cu slava care ni se va descoperi. 19 Căci creaţia aşteaptă cu nerăbdare descoperirea fiilor lui Dumnezeu, 20 fiindcă această creaţie a fost supusă zădărniciei, nu cu voia ei, ci din cauza celui ce a supus-o, având însă nădejdea 21 că şi creaţia însăşi va fi eliberată din sclavia putrezirii pentru libertatea slavei copiilor lui Dumnezeu. 22 Ştim că întreaga creaţie suspină şi suferă în durerile naşterii; 23 şi nu doar ea, ci şi noi, cei care avem primele roade ale Duhului, suspinăm în noi aşteptând înfierea, răscumpărarea trupului nostru. 24 Căci prin nădejde am fost mântuiţi; dar nădejdea care se vede nu mai este nădejde, fiindcă cine nădăjduieşte ceea ce vede deja? 25 Dar dacă nădăjduim ceea ce nu vedem, aşteptăm cu răbdare.
26 De asemenea, şi Duhul ne vine în ajutor în slăbiciunea noastră, fiindcă nu ştim pentru ce trebuie să ne rugăm, dar Duhul Însuşi se roagă pentru noi cu suspine de negrăit. 27 Iar Cel care cercetează inimile ştie care este gândul Duhului, pentru că El se roagă pentru sfinţi după voia lui Dumnezeu. 28 Ştim deci că celor care Îl iubesc pe Dumnezeu, adică celor ce sunt chemaţi după planul Său, totul le este rânduit spre bine. 29 Căci pe cei pe care i-a cunoscut mai dinainte, i-a şi rânduit mai dinainte să fie asemenea chipului Fiului Său, ca El să fie întâiul născut dintre mulţi fraţi. 30 Iar pe cei pe care i-a rânduit mai dinainte, pe aceştia i-a şi chemat; iar pe cei pe care i-a chemat, pe aceştia i-a şi îndreptăţit; şi pe cei pe care i-a îndreptăţit, pe aceştia i-a şi preamărit.
31 Deci ce vom spune despre acestea? Dacă Dumnezeu este cu noi, cine este împotriva noastră? 32 El, care nu L-a cruţat nici măcar pe Fiul Său, ci L-a dat pentru noi toţi, cu cât mai mult nu ne va dărui totul împreună cu El? 33 Cine îi va învinui pe aleşii lui Dumnezeu? Dumnezeu este cel care îndreptăţeşte. 34 Cine îi condamnă? Hristos Iisus este cel ce a murit dar a şi înviat, cel care stă la dreapta lui Dumnezeu şi mijloceşte pentru noi. 35 Cine ne va despărţi de iubirea lui Hristos? Necazul sau strâmtorarea, persecuţia sau foametea, lipsa de îmbrăcăminte, primejdia sau sabia? 36 După cum stă scris:
Pentru Tine suntem daţi morţii în toate zilele,
suntem socotiţi ca nişte oi de înjunghiat.
37 Însă în toate acestea suntem mai mult decât învingători prin Cel care ne-a iubit. 38 Sunt convins că nici moartea, nici viaţa, îngerii sau stăpânirile, nici cele de acum, nici cele viitoare, nici puterile, 39 înălţimea ori adâncul şi nici vreo altă făptură nu ne vor putea despărţi de iubirea lui Dumnezeu în Hristos Iisus Domnul nostru.
